To improve access to health, Municipal and District Assemblies (MDAs) in the Eastern Region have constructed 43 new Community Health Facilities (CHPs) from 2017 to 2020, according to the Regional Minister, Mr. Eric Kwakye Daffour.
He said a total of 3,248 newly recruited personnel have been posted to boost the healthcare delivery in the Region since 2017.
Speaking at Nation Building Update in Accra organized by the Ministry of Information, Mr. Eric Kwakye Daffour said 33 states of the art Ambulances have been distributed to District Offices of the National Ambulance Service.
The Minister said a Sod has been cut for the construction of the first phase (280 beds) costing €70m of the 600-Bed Regional Hospital in Koforidua.
Mr. Daffour said a Sod has been cut for the construction of 4 new District Hospitals at Nkwatia, Anyinam, Adukrom, and Jumapo for Kwahu East, Atiwa East, Okere, and New Juaben North respectively.
According to him, Rehabilitation/Expansion is ongoing at Aburi, Kyebi, Atibie, and Tetteh Quarshie Hospitals.
