The District Chief Executive for the Upper West Akyem District in the Eastern Region, Mr.Eugene Sackey has revealed that a total of 506 Persons with Disabilities have been supported in the District from 2017 to 2020.
He said the support included purchasing of Sewing machines, hairdressing machines, Stocked containers, distribution of Deepfreezers, Scholarship, and many others to the disabled.
Speaking to the media to account for his achievements in office, Mr Eugene Sackey said 62 PWDs received stocked containers, 28 Scholarship, 34 were supported financially to expand their businesses.
The DCE said NPP administration has also donated eight Industrial machines, 25 sewing machines,32 hairdryers, wheelchairs, and support to establish Poultry Farm for Persons with Disabilities.
On the School Feeding program, Mr Sackey said the District Assembly under his leadership has increased beneficiaries from 1,856 in 2016 to 19,728 in 2020.
He said the Assembly has also connected 26 Communities to the National grid under the Rural Electrification program.
