The Ghana Immigration Service in Berekum has intercepted 54 Nigerienes for entering Ghana illegally while the country’s borders remain closed over coronavirus.
Chief Superintendent Carl Dogbegah said they were intercepted following a tipoff by the BNI at Berekum West district.
He added that the service has a duty of repatriating them to Bawku to be sent back to Niger.
Chief Superintendent Dobegah appealed to drivers and all Ghanaians to help the security services arrest and repatriate foreigners who illegally enter the country at the time the country’s borders remain close.
Amadu Zakari, the leader of the Nigerians said, they were going to Sampa in the Jaman North district to join their friends who live there to labor.
