Pope John Senior High school emerged winners in the 69th independence day Quiz competition held at the SDA college of Education Assembly hall in the New Juaben North municipality.
They beat SDA SHS, Ghana SHS and Oyoko Methodist SHS after two successful rounds of competition.
The Municipal Chief Executive for New Juaben North, Samuel Adongo, emphasized that government has instituted the competition to enrich the young ones the history and culture of Ghana and also instil patriotism in whatever they do.
He charged both students and teachers as well as Ghanaians to think about the welfare of Ghana first before any personal interest agenda.
The MCE mentioned several educational and other sector projects that are been undesrtaken to ensure that people in the municipality benefit from the country’s national cake.
Mr. Adongo called for a collaborative effort from all Ghanaians in ensuring the municipality as well as Ghana as a whole become self dependent to augment the independence of the nation.
The Municipal Education Director, Hilda Amegatse, on her part challenged students gathered to be self discipline and focus on their contributions to the development of the country.
She advised students from engaging in activities that can jeopardize their future but rather do their best to contribute to Ghana’s development.
Other speakers preached about patriotism, commitment and hardwork which are great pillars of developing every nation and challenged all Ghanaians to change for the better to positively affect the country.
The occasion brought together students from both basic and Senior High schools, traditional and religious leaders, political leaders, staff of the Municipal Assembly as well as stakeholders in the education sector.
Participating schools received certificates of participation while the first three winners of the Quiz competition were honoured with awards.
