Football administrators across the country have urged the Football Association to cancel the suspended season due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Bryt Fm sports Pundit Otafregya Agyenim Boateng understand that most of Ghanaian football clubs want the Ghana football association to follow the France and the Netherlands example by abandoning the current league season thereby starting a new football season all over when it’s safest.
A ban on all public gatherings in the West African country has forced the GFA to suspend all football competitions, including the top-flight. The Caf Confederation of African Football (CAF) has given GFA until May 5 to take a decision on whether the current campaign will be annulled or continued.
The football administrators believe that lack of facilities in Ghana will make it difficult to re-start the league, citing how European countries with even more resources are finding it difficult to regroup and continue their leagues.
The likes of Alhaji Grunsah, Oduro Nyarkoh, king Faisal player Daniel Nii Agyei, Black Star talisman Majeed Waris and a host of others.
“Per my investigation about 70% of our local clubs administrators want the 2019-20 league season(GPL,DIV ONE,NWL,MTN FA CUP) truncated especially when we aren’t emphatic on when our football will be safe to resume” according to Otafregya.
According to them, a lot of countries like Belgium and France have cancelled their leagues so Ghana should also do same.
“Even GFA knows the league would not work during this period of pandemic”, they added.
However, they explained that it is up to the GFA to decide whether to go ahead with the league or not. If the Football Association decides to go ahead, they would agree and if they decide to postpone, the teams would have to prepare again towards it.
