President Akuffo Addo is expected to commission and begin distribution of the over 300 Ambulances for 275 Constituencies in the Country promised by his administration.
This assurance follows calls by the Minority side on Parliament’s Health Committee and some media houses for the immediate release of the ambulances at the State House.
At the Media Encounter with the President, a journalist wanted to know why the ambulances have been parked while the emergency healthcare sector continues to suffer.
President Akufo-Addo in his response said, “I saw myself getting into tremendous amount of issues if I started distributing some and others didn’t get it”, fortunately for us, all of them would be in by the end of this month.”
“Around 60 are already in and the other ones are on the high seas and will be here; by the end of the month, 300 would be here; on the 6th of January, I would commission them then the distribution would take place simultaneously across the country and nobody is going to accuse me of favoritism, regionalism”.
“The Minister for Special Development Initiative told me some of the ambulances were in and asked if she should distribute them and I said NO; she shouldn’t. She should wait for the others to come in so that we can distribute all at the same time…Fortunately for us all of them will be in by the end of this month and on the 6th of January, I will commission them and the distribution will take place simultaneously and nobody will accuse me of favoritism, and so on. There is no justification for they being parked but if I was to send it here and not here I think you know the kind of discourse that will come,” he stated.
