Isaac Adongo, the Bolgatanga Central member of parliament, has not ruled out running for the position in the 2028 elections.
He claims that after having an influence on the lives of those he serves, he will want to run for office because he is still young.
He supported his choice to compete in the 2028 elections by citing his longtime colleagues in Parliament, Dr. Dominic Ayine, Mahama Ayariga, and Haruna Iddrisu.
He pointed out that there are accusations that he is not having an impact as a member of parliament, but he was quick to clarify that he is having an influence, but that the accusations are unfounded since he does not act for the cameras.
“It is something I do on a daily basis, except that I do not go with cameramen. My politics is such that I place human dignity first and above anything. So if a small child is not privileged enough to come from a family that is not able to take care of that child, and I come in to support that child, I cannot take cameramen to go and take that child. It is not in my DNA,” he said.
He said that the people of Bolgatanga will soon start to reap the benefits of his three terms in office, which will let them decide to keep him in Parliament rather than elect a new representative who must come and start over.
“I have a job for four years. If I deliver it well, that seat is in my hands. If I don’t deliver it, I can’t blame anybody,” he stated.
Adding that “In this game, the longer you stay and the more impact you make in the political circle, the better you are at supporting your people. We cannot all of a sudden take three steps and take one step back to go and start all the way”.
