Over four hundred thousand cedis worth of items and cash amount have been disbursed to forty two (42) persons with disabilities in the New Juaben North municipality of the Eastern region.

The MCE, Samuel Adongo, has therefore urged beneficiaries to make good use of the support they receive from government to better their livelihoods.
Speaking at Effiduase during the disbursement, the MCE was glad to announce that, the municipality is blessed not to have PWDs in traffic begging for alms, and indicated his willingness to ensure such incidents are not recorded in the future.

Samuel Adongo affirmed government’s readiness to give PWDs good livelihoods as their allocation of the common fund has been increased to 5% from 3%, by the Mahama led government.
He encouraged parents not to hide their children with any disability but rather let them seek support from the Social Welfare department at the Assembly to better their lives as that of the abled ones.
The municipal Social Welfare officer, Patrick Oppong, in his statement explained that, earlier discussions with beneficiaries prompted his outfit to acquire the items that were distributed to them as already requested.

Others also received cash amount to support their education and health needs.
He advised beneficiaries to make good use of the items and money and use them for the initial agreed purpose or risk the opportunity of receiving further support from the government.
Items given out includes, fridges, wheelchairs, fufu pounding machine, a laptop, container shop, cylinders,cash amounts and others.

Meanwhile, beneficiaries speaking to newsmen were grateful to the MCE and the Social Welfare department for their support and pledged to use them well to improve their lives and that of their immediate family.
