The Free Senior High School policy has been described as the best initiative any government can offer its citizens in this modern world.
Deputy Director of Communication at the office of the President, Hon. Fatimah Abubakar, in an exclusive interview on Dadi FM morning show “Efa Woho” lives at the Jubilee House, was optimistic; most Ghanaians will be educated in the next 10 years due to the successful implementation of the policy.
According to her, over 2million Ghanaians students who may not have access to secondary education have already benefited from the policy.
She emphasized that about only 98 schools are currently on the double-track system as against 400 schools which started when it was first introduced, attributing it to the improvement in educational infrastructure across the country.
Madam Fatimah Abubakar, commenting on former President Mahama’s E-Block buildings, stressed that, the location of the schools were not the best as they were far away from communities.
“The buildings were built far away from communities thereby, making accessibility a difficult challenge since the schools were not having boarding facilities and teacher’s bungalows”.
“Because of that, students are not interested to do self-placement there” the Deputy Communicator lamented.
However, she assured Ghanaians of the Government’s commitment to ensure all the facilities are completed to augment the existing schools to absorb more students.
