The National Council of Catholic Women (NCCW) and the National Executive Committee of the Christian Mothers Association (CMA) have donated a total amount of Twelve Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH¢12,000.00) to support the Ghana Catholic Bishops Conference (GCBCs) Covid-19 Response Plan.
The President of the NCCW, Mrs. Perpetual Oppong who presented a Cheque of Ten Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH¢10,000.00) to the GCBC Covid-19 Relief Fund said their donation was in response to the appeal made by the Bishops for support to enable them to implement their Covid-19 Emergency Response Plan. She added that as Mothers, they could not fold their arms unconcerned, hence their donation to support the part of the Plan that is directed towards the vulnerable and the needy.
She was supported by the National Secretary, Mrs. Elizabeth Apprey Pobee, and two Executives of the Accra Archdiocese.
In another donation, the Executive Secretary of CMA, Mrs. Olivia Ansu Amponsah on behalf of the National Executive Committee, presented a Cheque of Two Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH¢2,000.00) as their widow’s mite to support the GCBC in the fight against Covid-19.
Receiving the donations on behalf of the GCBC, Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie, Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra thanked the Women for responding to the appeal of their Bishops and added that without them, it would not have been possible for the Bishops to implement their Covid-19 Response Plan. “Though we give the directives, the support comes from you and we are grateful”.
Recently, the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference (GCBC) donated 70,000 cedis (approximately $12,200) to the Country’s National COVID-19 Trust Fund to support the vulnerable in the society.
