Former Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North, Hon. Gifty Twum Ampofo, has expressed her view that the Parents-Teachers Association (PTA) has shifted its focus.
According to Hon. Gifty, PTA is now primarily seen as a means of generating income, rather than a platform for collaboration.
“Nowadays, PTA is viewed more as a way to make money than as a way for parents and teachers to work together, thus it would be beneficial if some parents suggested that PTA be revived”. she stated
Speaking with Kwamina Sam Biney on Bryt Adekye Mu Nsem, she underlined that the organization’s main purpose seemed to be money collection.
She added that it would be a good thing if a number of parents asked for the PTA to be reinstated after it was terminated.
Hon. Gifty questioned the PTA’s ability to encourage collaboration between educators and parents in order to assist pupils. She recognized the difficulties in mentoring kids and emphasized the necessity of teamwork to help them successfully.
