But for the timely intervention of Bryt FM, a young lady would have died at the Koforidua Regional Hospital.
The 33-year old teacher, Hannah Gyamfuah, had earlier been allegedly diagnosed with the deadly coronavirus by the Oda Government Hospital, and upon that, transferred to the Regional hospital.
Bryt FM news, speaking to the mother of the victim, Auntie Esi indicated that they both stay at Assin Fosu in the Central Region but the victim visited her sister at Bawjiase upon closure of schools where she started complaining heart problems.
She revealed, the daughter was sent to the hospital where she was treated and discharged.
But unfortunately, the problem resurfaced again some months later.
“Anytime she complains of her heart, she will lose blood, so I sent her to a Prayer Camp at Akyem Akroso to seek for spiritual support, but we were not seeing any positive signs. The pastor then advised me to take her (victim) back to the hospital, so she was sent to Oda Government Hospital” the mother narrated.
Auntie Esi added the victim was however transferred to Koforidua in an ambulance without notice of her daughter’s ailment.
“When we arrived at Koforidua hospital, the nurses who received us threw the paper given to them from Oda hospital after reading it. They were angry talking on top of the voices ‘why have you brought this coronavirus here.”
“I wondered how my daughter will have such a disease because I am the one taking care of her. So I went to the main gate to be tested with a thermometer gun if I am also infected with the disease, but I was told I’m not having the virus. I then became surprised to hear that from the nurses” Auntie Esi stressed.
According to her, the victim was left in an ambulance for about 4 hours before she was taken into a small room having to pay Ghc40 per day.
The victim was later taken into the female ward on Thursday, 14th May 2020 after testing a sample of her blood since arriving at the facility on Monday morning.
The hospital Blood blank earlier gave the victim two pants of blood which they requested for a replacement and an additional two pants of blood.
It is in line with this that Bryt FM used it’s medium to appeal to listeners for support in donating blood to save the young lady.
The mother was grateful to the management of Bryt FM for the opportunity to ask for public support in the time of need.
She also, thanked donors for their kind heart of donating to save her daughter, as the hospital was not ready to offer any more blood until a replacement is made.
Meanwhile, the mother admitted the situation has indeed trauma on her and her daughter, having been allegedly diagnosed with having the deadly virus.
