The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atiwa East, Mr. Ernest Owusu Ntim, has met with the Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, to lobby for the completion of stalled Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) projects in the district.
The meeting, held at the Ministry of Education in Accra on Tuesday formed part of the DCE’s efforts to secure government support for critical educational infrastructure projects that have remained uncompleted.
During the engagement, Mr. Owusu Ntim highlighted the urgent need for work to resume on key projects, including the construction of dormitory, dining hall and classroom blocks at the Anyinam Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Complex.
He also appealed for the completion of the stalled Adasawase Methodist Primary School project, stressing that the facility was essential to providing pupils with a safe and conducive learning environment.
The DCE further raised concerns over infrastructure deficits and classroom congestion affecting schools in Enyiresi and Sekyere, calling for swift government intervention to improve teaching and learning.
Mr. Owusu Ntim said the completion of the projects remained a priority for the Atiwa East District Assembly, noting that quality educational infrastructure was critical to improving academic performance and expanding access to education across the district.
In response, the Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, commended the DCE for his commitment to educational development and assured him that the Ministry would take steps to reactivate the stalled GETFund projects.
He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to addressing the infrastructure challenges in Atiwa East as part of ongoing efforts to improve educational facilities nationwide.
The DCE pledged to continue engaging the Ministry and other stakeholders to ensure that the projects are completed for the benefit of schoolchildren and communities across the district.
