Total turnout for this year’s District Assembly Electrons (DAE) in the New Juaben North and South Municipalities in the Eastern Region have not yielded any improvement relative to the previous years.
Many people were spotted busily going about their usual duties with market women and men selling out Christmas goods as only a handful of the electorates had come to cast their ballots as at the time we toured the polling centres.
The electoral process according to these reporters has been peaceful devoid of any technical hitches.
Officials were dispatched to their respective polling centres as early as 5: 00 am to set up the place.
A visit to Kwaku Okyere electoral area in the New Juaben South, the Central market polling station “A”, recorded a turnout of 83 out of 476 eligible voters while at Central Market “B”, 81 out of 448 as at 10: 40 am.
Also at the Aglo Town North electoral area, at the Bethel Pentecost polling station “A and B”, only 55 out of 437 and 59 out of 458 respectively HD gone to cast their ballots at about 11: 00 am
The New Juaben North Municipality, the Presiding Officer, Yaw Agyir who’s polling centre Police station “B” attributed the low turnout to the fact that today is a working day and most of the voters have gone to work.
