The Yilo Krobo Constituency Executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have rejected the Eastern Regional Secretariat’s decision to affirm the Electoral Commission’s declared results for the Constituency Secretary position, insisting that the pending recount must be completed before a winner is officially recognised.
Addressing the media, Deputy Constituency Secretary, Patrick Worfa Nartey, speaking with the support of other constituency executives, maintained that the Secretary position remained unresolved due to outstanding disputes and the pending recount process.
He stated categorically that no individual had been sworn in or gazetted as the Constituency Secretary for Yilo Krobo, arguing that the position remained vacant until the Eastern Regional Secretariat completed the recount, officially declared a winner and swore in the successful candidate.
Mr. Nartey further argued that no individual had the legal, constitutional or administrative authority to act, sign documents, make appointments or issue statements in the capacity of Constituency Secretary.
He therefore urged party members, the general public and institutions to disregard any correspondence, appointments or pronouncements issued by individuals purporting to act in that capacity.
The Yilo Krobo Constituency Secretary results became a subject of controversy october 24,2026 during the Constituency conference after the Electoral Commission and Member of Parliament Albert Nyarkotey rejected request by agent of Herbert Tetteh Anyanumeh a candidate in the Secretary position race
The disagreement centres on the eight-vote difference between Raymond Eku Tetteh and Herbert Tetteh Anyanumeh.
The situation led to chaotic misunderstanding which forced the reinforcement team of the police to take custody of the ballot box to Regional headquarters.
Subsequently on October 29, 2026,the Eastern Regional Secretariat of the NDC issued a statement affirming the Electoral Commission’s declared results for the Constituency Secretary position in Yilo Krobo and the Women’s Organiser position in Achiase.
According to the Regional Elections Committee (REC), reports received from the Electoral Commission indicated that the winners of the two positions had been duly determined.
The committee explained that declaration forms were completed immediately after the counting of votes in the presence of candidates’ agents.
The affirmed results were as follows:Raymond Eku Tetteh – 569 votes
,Herbert Tetteh Anyanumeh – 561 votes
,and Edmund Otoo-Ellis – 270 votes
While the Eastern Regional Secretariat maintains that the Electoral Commission’s declared results have been affirmed, the Yilo Krobo Constituency Executives insist that the disputed results must be subjected to a recount before the position can be considered settled.
Bryt FM sources indicate that, if the dispute is not resolved the Secretary could be injuncted from taking part in the regional Conference scheduled to take place in Kwahu on November 14,2026.
