A 27-year-old driver has been jailed 14 years imprisonment by the Asamankese Circuit Court for unlawful entry and stealing motorcycle worth ¢1,500.
The accused, Atsu Avoi, a.k.a. LELE pleaded guilty when he appeared before His Honour Abubakari Abass Adams.
Prosecution statement said the complainant is an Accountant with a Sachet water production company in Asamankese whiles the accused also live at Asuokaw.
It said on 9th June 2020 at about 3:00 am, the complainant detected that his motorcycle was missing from its garage and around 6:00 am the same day, Assembly member for Asuokaw and others spotted the accused pushing the motorcycle in the outskirt of the Town.
The Assemblyman, who suspected the motorcycle, is a stolen Interrogated Atsu Avoi and he could not give a tangible answer.
Atsu Avoi was handed to the Police and the complainant later heard about the arrest and went to the police and identified his motorcycle after which the accused was arraigned before the court for prosecution.
Atsu was sentenced 14 years for stealing and two months for unlawful entry, both to run simultaneously.
