Coronavirus infections have resurged in Lower Manya Krobo in the Eastern Region a month after Ghana Health Service announced all 70 cases have recovered.
Subsequently, on June 3, 2020,the Eastern Regional Health Directorate declared the Municipality Covid-19 free and approved reopening of Afcons Construction Company working on Tema to Mpakadan Railway Project after recovery of its workers tested positive for Coronavirus.
However, the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality has recorded 5 new cases in a week. Two of the cases are from clinically suspected cases while one was confirmed among travelers.
Meanwhile, Nkawkaw seems to be the second epicenter after Koforidua which has recorded 32 cases.
Nkawkaw case count is now 24 after one case was confirmed on Thursday.
The Kwahu West Municipal Health Director Celestine Asante explained on Nkawkaw based Agoo FM on Thursday, June 11, 2020, that, the confirmed cases are from 250 samples of the first three index cases recorded in March.
The first two index cases made up of two males and female adults were recorded at the Holy Family Hospital at Nkawkaw, while the third case was a resident of Nkawkaw who tested positive at the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital at Kumasi.
The subsequently confirmed cases from contacts traced are made of both Children and adults.
Eastern Region case count has increased significantly from 198 to 208 within 24 hours.
Statistics by the Eastern Regional Health Directorate dated June 10, 2020, indicate the regional case Count has increased from 198 to 208.
The additional confirmed cases were recorded in West Akim (4), New Juaben South (3), Denkyembuor (2), and Birim Central (1).
