About 80 final year students of Suhum Senior High and Technical School (SUTESCO)in the Eastern Region were denied entry to the campus Monday Evening over bushy hair and lateness.
The students -males and females most of whom had traveled from parts of the country were locked out by school authorities that they came in before 5:00pm.
“I came here 4:30pm they asked me to barber my hair and returned 5:10pm but they disallowed my entry. It is almost 8:00pm I am still stranded here I can’t go back. The gateman says we should go and sleep at a Guesthouse but I don’t have money for that.” One of the stranded students told the media.
Another student lamented “We came here few minutes after five they asked as to barber our hair we joined a queue at the barbering shop after we were done and returned to the school they said they will not allow us to enter.” some of the students lamented.
The situation forced many of the students to sleep in guesthouses while others perched with strangers some taxi drivers in town.
The Headmistress of the School, Elizabeth Agyakwa who had ordered that none of the students be allowed entry into the school came to the campus with raging anger after some parents informed some political figures about the situation.
She later ordered the gate be opened for few stranded students left behind the gate at 9:00pm.
