Twenty -four (24) and Nine (9) new Confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Birim South and New Juaben South Municipalities respectively on Saturday have pushed Eastern region case count from 571 to 604.
25 out of 33 Districts and Municipalities in the region have recorded cases with Upper West Akim been the latest district.
The top five Municipalities with highest cases are Kwahu South-179, Lower Manya – 125, New Juaben South -55
Birim North – 43 and Birim South – 28
Out of the 604 persons tested positive in the region, 220 representing 36% are health workers.
Out of the total 604 cases, 360 have recovered.
The death toll has increased to 9 following the death of a woman at Atibie Government Hospital in Kwahu South District.
President Nana Akufo-Addo during his 13th address to the nation on Sunday, June 28, 2020, announced that Ghana’s COVID-19 case count has risen to 17,351.
Indicating that, the country has recorded 609 new cases since the last update.
“As of Saturday, June 27, 2020, our country has recorded 17,351 confirmed cases with 12,994 recoveries representing some 75 percent of positives.”
“This means that currently, 4,245 active cases are having conducted 294,867 tests. One of the highest on the continent. 30 persons are severely and critically ill and we have a total of 112 sad deaths constituting 0.6 percent of positives as we maintain one of the lowest deaths rates in the world.” the President explained.
