The Ghana Football Association on Tuesday concluded that Asante Kotoko and AshantiGold Sporting Club will be representing Ghana at the two prestigious Confederation of Africa club competitions.
However, the bankroller for King Faisal Babies, Alhaji Karim Grunsa, has cautioned the two clubs, saying the football fraternity should allow them to go and disgrace themselves.
He said they represented the country during the era of the Normalization committee but brought nothing better but shame.
According to him, no one can seize them from participating once they have their money but they should be mindful especially with their gate proceeds, some management members capitalize on that to dupe the club.
“Nonetheless, we cannot waste our slot hence they can keep on trying. It may be better for them someday” he added.
The Ghana Football Association’s Executive Committee has concluded in a meeting held on Tuesday, June 30, 2020, that the 2019/2020 Football season has been canceled.
With this decision, the Executive Committee further concluded that the previous representatives will be representing the country once again in the 2020/2021 edition.
“Asante Kotoko will represent Ghana at the CAF Champions League level and AshantiGold will represent in the CAF Confederation Cup” GFA’s Communications Director, Henry Asante Twum told Angel FM.
The two clubs won the ticket to represent the nation based on their exploits in the 2019 Normalization Committee Special Tournament.
Asante Kotoko was the winner after beating Karela on penalties in the Tier 1 tournament and AshantiGold beat Nzema Kotoko at the Cape Coast Stadium in the Tier 2 tournament.
