Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Director Henry Asante Twum has Ghana’s commitment to hosting the 2027 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in March, dismissing concerns that the country could lose the hosting rights over delays in funding and stadium preparations.
Speaking on MAX FM, he insisted that plans remained unchanged and expressed confidence in Ghana’s ability to organise the tournament successfully.
His assurance comes amid concerns about the readiness of proposed venues, including the Baba Yara and Cape Coast stadia. The Accra Sports Stadium is currently understood to be the only venue certified for CAF competitions.
Asante Twum also defended GFA President Kurt Okraku’s decision to bring junior tournaments to Ghana, saying hosting such competitions is important for the development of the country’s football.
