Kwahu West Municipality in the Eastern Region has recorded a big jump in Coronavirus cases.
The Current case count in the Municipality stands at 217 almost all cases recorded in Nkawkaw.
The number of recoveries stands at 95. Few health facilities in the Municipality are now over overstretched as the cases increase. Currently, public health facilities attend to only emergency cases due to the situation.
Speaking on Agoo FM Thursday, the Municipal Director of National Commission for Civic Education, Francis Owusu Agyei lamented that despite the spike residents carelessly flouting the COVID -19 preventive protocols and other measures rolled out by the Assembly.
“We are pleading with them to make use of the nose mask”. He told host Omansomfo Kwabena Asante on Agoo FM
Forty-five (45) new confirmed cases of Coronavirus recorded in five districts in the Eastern region on June 29, 2020, pushed the regional case count from 623 to 668.
Out of the number, 20 were from New Juaben South, Nsawam Adoagyiri recorded 17, Birim Central had 5, 2 at Kwahu South with West Akim registering 1.
It was the second time the Eastern Region has confirmed a set of 45 positive cases.
Out of the total confirmed cases in the region, 248 representing 37% are health workers however 107 have recovered with one death.
Of the 668 confirmed cases, 438 have recorded in the region however 9 have died.
