The Bibiani Circuit Court has remanded a farmer put before the court for alleged attempt to sell off his 5-year-old Son.
The accused Iddrisu Fusani 25-year-old farmer at Asoredanho a cottage near Bonsu Nkwanta pleaded guilty but remanded to re-appear before the court on August 9, 2020, for a trial to begin.
Prosecuting officer Detective Inspector Gorge Asanti Noye told the court presided over by His Honour Yaw Oweahene Achampong that the victim is a biological father of the accused and lives with the grandmother at Asoredanho a cottage near Bonsu Nkwanta.
The prosecutor explained that during June 2020, police at Sefwi Juaboso had intelligence that the accused had planned to sell the victim and looking for a prospective buyer, a witness in the case called the accused on phone and posed as a prospective buyer and bargained with him.
He added that the accused agreed on the phone to sell the victim to the witness at 170,000.00 on June 12, 2020.
The police at Sefwi Juaboso accompanied the witness to the cottage Asoredanho and the accused lied to the victim’s grandmother that he was sending him to Bonsu Nkwanta for schooling.
The accused handed the victim to the said agent who posed as a prospective buyer at Bonsu Nkwanta.
The agent together with the accused and the victim went to Sefwi Juaboso where it had been agreed that the money will be paid into the account of the accused.
The accused was arrested at Sefwi Juaboso by Police investigators who were on alert.
In his caution statement, the accused admitted the offense. On 15 June 2020, the accused was arraigned before Sefwi Juaboso District Court and was remanded into police custody, on 8 June 2020.
The case was subsequently moved to the Bibiani Circuit Court for trial.
