Some five (5) lead suspects involved in the lynching of Akua Denteh the 90-year old woman at Kafaba in the savannah region after she was accused of being a witch have been arrested by the police in the region.
The arrest was made by a dispatch team of police officers from greater Accra after an initial arrest of the Kafaba Chief, Zackaria Yahaya at Damongo on Tuesday.
This makes the total arrest of suspects of the lynching of the old lady 6 in the custody of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Savannah Regional Police Command Center as they bring the culprits of the murder to record.
Dominic Mahama, son of the deceased, in an interview, revealed his excitement after the arrest was made saying the family is going to keep on seeking justice for their mother.
“Five people have been arrested so far. We thank them [the police] so much. Maybe through them, we can get the actual culprits who did that,” he said.
According to the police, the suspects have admitted on inviting the priestess to Kafaba where the dreadful incident took place.
The main suspect involved in the lynching of the old woman appear to be a traditional priestess who pinpointed the deceased out.
The police put up an amount of GHS2,000 for information leading to the arrest of the criminals.
The incident was captured on camera that went viral sparking public crime and condemnation of the culture of witchcraft allegations on Thursday, July 23, 2020.
However, the incident has caused an uproar across every nick and crook of the country on the need for justice for the family of the deceased, Akua Denteh.
