The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has expressed how disturbed they are about the leaking of a document containing confidential information on examiners.
The document said to have been leaked contains the phone numbers, home, and e-mail addresses, and other details of all the WAEC examiners.
The Executive Director of African Examination Watch, Kofi Asare, made this known after the core mathematics and physics practical paper leaked on a social media post and accused WAEC and the Ghana Education Service of being included in the matter
The Public Relations Officer of WAEC, Agnes Tei Cudjo has said this will not change the credibility of the marking process.
“Management has started investigations into it. We want to tell all stakeholders to rest assured that this does not mean people or the marking process is going to be compromised or anything like that,” she said on Citi News.
However, she admitted the document leaked was extremely sensitive.
“When the examination board meets to approve lists of examiners for a number of years, we don’t ever let anybody take that document out because it is a confidential document.” She added
Mr. Asare has however said that WAEC is used to doing this which is now like a yearly incident that happens mostly the leaking of the examination papers.
Saying that the process the council use in resolving the problem does not help.
“They have always been denying. Their approach to leaks is to always deny,” Saying on Eyewitness News.
“It serves no purpose in engaging them in such matters… they are interested in protecting the sanctity and integrity of their institution rather than that of the WASSCE assessment.” He added.
