Running mate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has assured Ghanaians she will wipe out all witch camps in the country when the NDC takes over in 2021.
The former Minister of Education made her intentions known when she was speaking to inmates of the Gambaga Witch Camp in the North East Region.
The existence of witch camps in the country and maltreatment of these old women who are suspected to be witches came to its peak after a 90-year-old woman, Akua Denteh was mobbed because she was claimed to be a witch.
According to Prof Naana, the presence of witch camps in the country is a bad reputation for the country and one of the NDC’s topmost priority will be to eradicate them in the country.
In their quest to abolish the act, she said that there will be a mapped out plan to help occupants of these witch camps go back and be accepted in their communities.
“We shall tackle this menace decisively, all those interested in the all-inclusive development of the country should support the NDC to return to power”.
“The 2020 election campaign will be based on the record and not insults. We have done it before, and we will do it again,” she added.
