The vice president of Ghana, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has said that it is not impossible for people to compare the NPP’s economic performance to NDC.
He asserted that the economy has been maintained and improved greatly under the Akuffo Addo administration.
“The economy is superior now that what we inherited. Fiscal deficits have reduced, sovereign credit ratings have improved, and we cleared the financial mess left by the Mahama administration…so comparing the economy under the previous administration and now is like ‘day and night’ ”, he said.
He admitted that the ruling government has not completely eradicated poverty or seized the sufferings of the citizens, but he is sure that through the policies implemented by the NPP, the citizens have been relieved of their sufferings.
He also noted that the current coronavirus pandemic which the world is facing has had an effect on the economy but assured Ghanaians that soon everything will be fine.
“COVID-19 had delayed the progress of the economy but it has not derailed everything. COVID-19 has helped accelerate our march towards Ghana Beyond Aid. With the coming of COVID-19 helped us to practically implement the Ghana Beyond Aid. The government is looking at encouraging domestic production and that could be seen in the production of the PPEs for the fight against COVID-19”, he assured.
