The Gender, Children and Social Protection Minister, Cynthia Mamle Morrison has promised to sack any caterer who fails to cook for the BECE candidates without hesitation.
The Minister gave out these instructions after she received some complaints from some students during her visit to schools in the Sagnarigu Municipality in the Northern Region about some schools refusing to comply with the President’s directives.
The President initiated one hot meal for all BECE candidates in the country during his 15th address to the nation on Sunday, August 16.
The Northern Region seems to be having problems with this initiative as some caterers failed to cook on the first day of the exercise hence they began on the second day.
This the Gender Minister promised to investigate in an interview on 3FM.
The exercise has been associated with a lot of controversies as some food had parliamentary posters printed on it and others also had to decree the “4 More 4 Nana” anthem before they were given their meals, apart from that the food was in a small quantity and had low quality.
The Gender Minister has instructed all caterers not to defile the instructions given to them, so they wouldn’t lose their jobs.
“This is an intervention by the President which is aimed at keeping the students in school ahead of their examination. We shall terminate the contract of any caterer who wants to derail this good initiative,” she warned.
