Legal practitioner Prosper Harrison Addo has assumed the role of General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association, it has been confirmed.
The Legal Practitioner has left his highly respected role as Compliance Manager at telecommunication giants MTN and taken up the position of General Secretary at the association that is looking to rebuild itself from the scratch following the Number12 documentary that brought it to knees.
Last month, the GFA in a communique, announced that it is recruiting to fill the position that has been vacant over two years.
After a thorough and exhaustive process that saw the association interview personalities from diverse backgrounds, the panel was impressed by Harrison Addo’s meticulousness and profound knowledge of brand-building and football matters.
The recommendations of the interview panel were rubber-stamped by the 12-man Executive Council, paving way for his appointment as the man to run the day-to-day affairs of the association.
Prosper comes in at a time when the GFA under the leadership of Kurt Okraku has put in place measures to ‘ignite passion and create wealth’ for Ghana football.
As the head of the administrative chapter of the FA, Prosper’s core duty will be to execute the vision of the new FA leadership which is anchored on the revival and commercialization of Ghana football.
He was the head of the Disciplinary Committee of the previous FA and oversaw some landmark cases.
He is a Master of Business Administration holder from the University of Salford in the UK and a lawyer with over 18 years of experience.
His association with football traces back to the late 90s when he served as Deputy Managing Editor of Hearts News, the official newspaper of Accra Hearts of Oak.
