Communications Officer of Ashantigold, Eric Karikari is optimistic about his outfit making a positive impact in the upcoming Africa inter-club competition despite the rampant player exit from the miners.
The Obuasi based club was dealt with a massive blow as key players like Shafiu Mumuni, James Akaminko, Latif Anabila and other top players refused to extend their contract with the club but according to the PRO, there is no course for alarm as he strongly believes his outfit can cope with those players.
Asked if the exit of their key players will have a negative effect on their Africa campaign, he said, “No, the issue is that all the players who are leaving the club are not part of our ongoing project. The core of the team is there and we shouldn’t think that we have collapsed the entire team because the majority of the team is there”
“As I speak, we have Appiah McCarthy, Richard Osei Agyemang, Amos Addae and other good players so we are just bringing some few additions to complement them. I can say on authority that, those players who have left the club were not part of our project even before the league was truncated” he told Kwaku Sarpong Sarkodie of Bryt FM.
“We are still preparing without these players for the Confederations cup. We are indeed ready for the competitions” He said.
