The CEO of KY&P Company Limited, Seth Yeboah has shared his knowledge of land acquisition and purchasing in Ghana.
He has advised Ghanaians to thoroughly complete all paperwork associated with land purchasing and acquisition to avoid future challenges and debates.
“Most Ghanaians are usually interested in the purchasing but they don’t want to spend on the legal processes so they can have a peace of mind after the purchase”
According to him, Ghanaians should be not ignorant especially when it comes to acquiring a land property because a little ignorance can cause great damage to either the buyer or seller.
In an interview with Abena Pokua Ahwenee on Dadi FM, 101.1, he passionately spoke about the subject matter and explained a few terms to guide Ghanaians.
He mentioned indenture which he explained as a legal contract that reflects or covers a debt or purchase obligation.
“You can’t claim ownership of a property if it still bears the name of the seller or previous owner, so as part of the acquisition processes your name should be on the document to secure the property for you”, he said.
He also added that as a buyer, you are required to have a site plan, an indenture, and other legal requirements from the seller so you can be sure you are dealing with the right property owner.
“When you don’t have any of these then you must question the person selling the land to you”, he added.
According to Seth Yeboah, these are necessities that as a buyer you are entitled to and should not take for granted.
He also counseled property owners and sellers to be cautious of the purchasing and sale processes and procedures because some buyers also take advantage and cheat.
