A total of 692 out of 837 total registered voters turned out to vote in the special voting exercise in New Juaben South Constituency of the Eastern Region.
This means a total of 145 voters did not show up. The absentees cannot vote on December 7 According to the Electoral Commission.
Close to 40 voters however could not find their names in the register hence could not vote.
The affected persons are seething with anger as to why their names were missing.
The New Juaben South Municipal Electoral officer Kofi Asante Owusu says failure by the affected persons to transfer their votes to their designated polling station accounted for the missing names.
The EC official says the affected persons were supposed to transfer their votes before applying for special voting.
Meanwhile, the acting Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command Francis Gomado says the affected officers will be redeployed closer to polling stations where they registered to enable them to exercise their franchise on December 7, 2020.
A total of 7,893 eligible voters were expected to take part in the special voting exercise across 33 constituencies in the Eastern Region.
Akyemansa District had the lowest voter population of 50 voters while New Juaben South has the highest special voter population of 837.
The biometric verification device worked efficiently and effectively.
