A family of four including two children escaped death in a domestic fire outbreak at Akyem Kwabeng in the Atewa West District of the Eastern Region.
The incident occurred at dawn around 2:30am, according to officials of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO).
Ivy Amoako, the mother explained that she woke up suddenly to see smoke billowing from the roof. She quickly evacuated the children to safety before the fire escalated.
Madam Ivy Amoako said firefighters’ delay in responding to their distress calls led to the complete burn down of the house.
She listed several household properties worth hundreds of cedis consumed by the inferno.
Meanwhile, NADMO officials are conducting a comprehensive assessment of the damages caused.
