Deputy Chairperson in charge of Operations at the Electoral Commission, Mr. Samuel Tettey has revealed that compilation of the new Voters Region is expected to begin in April 2020.
According to him, the commission will spend 10 days in each polling station and shall spend about 41 days for the entire registration across the Country as well as adding five days for mob up.
Mr. Samuel Tetteh said this in an interview with Joy News’s PM express show.
He said Passport, Old voters ID, Driver’s license shall be the requirements for the registration and people without this card are expected to be guaranteed by five people.
Mr. Tettey said the new Ghana card cannot be used for the registration for new voters ID because not every Ghanaian has one.
In less than 12 months, Ghanaians will be heading to the polls to elect a new president as while as Members of Parliament.
The Electoral Commission in December petitioned Parliament to approve GH¢444,846,663 for the compilation of a new voters’ register.
The funds were approved by the House before it went on recess for the Christmas break.
