The General Manager of MTN Mobile Money Limited, Mr Eli Hene has disclosed that MTN Ghana has suspended the demand of valid national identification cards for mobile money transactions.
The implementation date has been moved from February 1, 2021, to April 1st 2021.
To Mr Hene, the decision is an effort to reduce cases of mobile money fraud and will support them to deal with fraud issues that have become very much of a challenge.
In an interview with Citi TV, Mr Eli Hene affirmed that the extension of the implementation date will allow its mobile money agents to be given more sensitization.
“The extension will make the general public more capable of helping MTN to adequately deal with cases of mobile money fraud,’’ he added.
Mr Eli Hene indicated that the enforcement of the requirement will also aid the company deal with issues of fraud.
