Commercial drivers have called for increment in lorry fares should the government consider reviewing COVID-19 restrictions in the coming days.
Responding to calls to limit the number of passengers in commercial vehicles amidst the COVID-19 outbreak, some aggrieved drivers indicated that such a call will have dire consequences on their activities.
“Reducing the number of passengers in our vehicle will affect our daily sales as happened in 2020. Unfortunately, prices of fuel keep increasing since December last year so we expect the government to do a broader consultation with all stakeholders before taking such a stand” some drivers stated.
Ghana currently has active cases of 3,613 of COVID-19 with a death record of 372 deaths, according to the Ghana Health Service.
The GHS has also revealed that 32 persons have died from the pandemic, a situation considered heinous.
