Businesspersons who deal in the transactions of purchasing and supply of general goods in the Eastern Regional capital – Koforidua are grieving over resident’s poor patronisation of goods in the region.
In a random interview on the principal streets of the region’s capital, some assume that for the past years, goods patronisation in elections year are massive than all years but this year 2020 is presumed to be double of everything yet the worst of all with regards to sales.
“The myth we have about election years are slowly dying out as the system is so hardened that people refuse to buy things anymore. The government itself is in trouble so how can they make the economy flexible,” they quizzed.
The businesspersons especially market women have attributed their loss of profit and inability to purchase more stuff for people’s consumption to the year being an election year. This they think the politicians are making things difficult in order to lessen it in the middle of the year so citizens would be deceived to vote them into power again.
“Though we are supporters of the ruling party, we want to tell the NPP government that we have already made up our minds as to who to vote for and the party to elect into power. Nothing can convince us as it used to in the previous years,” some market women told mybrytfmonline reporters.
The market women engaging in the sales of foodstuff bemoaned to mybrytfmonline that their goods are getting rotten leading them to run a loss due to the slow nature of goods patronisation.
This they think is appalling since they have other bills like electricity bills and water bill to settle as some said they are single parents.
While some are blaming the government, others are of the view that, though market slow, people at most times are the cause of their own problems.
They think some spend unnecessary without managing the little they have hence blaming the government.
