The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Educate Africa Institute, Mr William Boadi has urged the government and the Ghana Education Service (GES) to adopt a shift system for school children adding that it is the best way to control the spread of the coronavirus in schools.
Speaking in an interview on Bryt FM news, Mr Boadi opined that COVID-19 is not yet to vacate from the country thus parents and stakeholders who are seeking for school closure to evade such mentality because children going back home till further notice will not be the best method to solve the battle.
To him, the shifting system will aid the children to have a safe life in school than the school closure because many schools lack proper facilities including infrastructure such as additional classrooms as well as PPE’s for both teachers and learners and such problems will remain the same even if the children are to stay back home for an extra year since after spending over 10 months’ home last year that problem has maintained with no upgrade.
He stressed that overcrowded, poor ventilation, crowded canteen are the main challenges that can lead the children to attract the virus easily hence the government should ensure that every school has been provided with the PPEs and those needed infrastructures has been delivered in order to enable the learners to have a safe life to study than to go home.
“The children should remain in school with careful measures therefore the government must do his part to help the children have a quality education,” he added.
