The Parents and Teachers Association chairman of Twifo Ashire A.M.E. Zion Primary and D/A JHS in the Twifo Atti-Morkwa district in the Central Region, Mr. Yeboah Shadrach disclosed that pupils in the school sit on non-cemented bare floored classroom before they can learn due to inadequate furniture in the school.
Mr., Yeboah hinted that the school has a total number of pupils enrollment of about 240 but only 45 desks are in the school from kindergarten to JHS. He added that there are also a total number of 12 teaching staff in the school who share only four teachers’ tables and chairs.
Dadi news engaged the District Chief Executive (DCE) Hon. Robert Agyemang Nyantakyi and the District works engineer, Mr. Nyame visited the said school to meet the school authorities and the elders in the community to address the issue.
After the meeting, Hon. Robert Nyantakyi revealed to the media that, the issue carried out was true but as of now, the assembly does not have any official report on its file as the said school needs desks but assured that the assembly is in the process of doing some of the desks hence provision would be made anytime they are done.
He then urged the PTA chairman and the school management committee chairman to follow the official procedure when requesting something from the assembly next time.
Also, the chief of the Ashire community, Nana Kofi Ntiako III, on behalf of the school authorities expressed his profound gratitude to the DCE for his quick response and pleaded that it’s rather unfortunate that the PTA chairman together with the school management committee chairman did not notify the responsible authorities before going to the media.
