The Eastern Regional Minister, Seth Acheampong has emphasized his commitment to deal with activities of illegal miners, popularly referred to as ‘Galamsey’ within the region.
According to the minister, fighting galamsey is one of the assignments given to him by President Akufo-Addo even before his appointment.
Addressing the Okyenhene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin, and chiefs of Akyem Abuakwa traditional area, Mr. Seth Acheampong indicated that his visit is to formally himself to the traditional authority and also familiarise with the traditional heads in the region as custom demands.
Mr. Seth Acheampong in his remarks pledged to help in ensuring the region gets its fair share of the National cake in terms of development.
The Okyenhene and President of the Eastern Regional House chiefs, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin in his address congratulated the Regional minister on his appointment and challenged him to ensure the region is well taken care of.
He charged him to leave behind a good record instead of just ‘passing through’ and that, it can only be achieved with hard work and determination.
Okyenhene Amoatia Ofori Panin, however, complained about the poor road networks in the region and tasked the minister to put in more efforts to make sure most of the roads see facelift within his tenure.
The Regional minister had earlier paid courtesy calls on the Kwahu and New Juaben traditional councils respectively since assumption into office.
