The Electoral Commission says it is working with the Finance Ministry to ensure that monies due its 2020 field operatives are paid by the end of April, 2021.
To facilitate the movement of the staff and promote the delivery of their mandate at the grassroots level, the Commission procured a total of 147 vehicles made up of 15 motorbikes, 30 four-wheel drives,107 pickups, 8 haulage trucks and two Coaster buses at a total cost of GH¢38.37 billion.
But the Commission says it is regretted for the delay in effecting the payments to its officials in December Election and assures all Field Operatives that arrangements are being made to ensure the timely release of funds.
“The Commission thanks its hard working and dedicated team of Field Operatives who lived by its motto and contributed to making the 2020 Elections successful, transparent, timely, credible and peaceful.”
The statement comes in the wake of some operatives asking the EC to pay them their due for their work in the general election.
