The Asamankese Police have retrieved a single barrel gun and an empty cartridge that allegedly discharged accidentally leading to the death of a retired Pastor of The Church of Pentecost.
The 75 years retired Pastor of The Church of Pentecost died in the accidental discharge of his gun.
The deceased identified as Retired Rev. Seth Ayi Mantey allegedly stubbed an object and fell on a gun loaded with a live cartridge which suddenly discharged into his armpit and was rushed to the Asamankese Government Hospital but pronounced dead.
According to Samuel Mantey son of the deceased, on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, in the evening, the now-deceased took his registered gun, loaded it with the live cartridge to patrol the house to scare away suspected thieves.
Samuel Mantey said he was following the father; however, his father suddenly fell on his gun which accidentally discharged on his right arms towards the armpit, and was rushed to hospital and later pronounced dead.
Asamankese Divisional Police Commander, A.C.P Akwasi Kankam Boadu who visited the scene said the family has confirmed that the man did not kill himself as b ing speculated rather he died out of accidental discharge.
Retired Rev. Seth Ayi Mantey is said to be one of the powerful prophets God used in the 1990s in Eastern, Ashanti, and Brong Ahafo regions in the Church of Pentecost.
“Pastor Seth Ayi Mantey was the first District Pastor of Osenase District in Asamankese. He was called into Ministry from the same district. He was probably the first to run a “family and friends” system in COP. His father was his central Presiding Elder and his mum was the District women’s leader. His brother and uncle were also Elders and were part of the first district executive committee. He had a very vibrant prayer ministry. He was a big-time cocoa farmer. Hunting was his hobby so he had been using guns long before he entered ministry” a member of the Church of Pentecost said.
