Executive Secretary for National Peace Council, George Amoh has pleaded with Ghanaians to remain calm despite the fasting brouhaha ongoing at Wesley Girls Methodist School.
Wesley Girls Methodist School has been on the headlines since they restricted a form one student from fasting in this Ramadan Period.
According to the school’s directives, students are not allowed to fast whilst in school because of academic pressure; however, they encourage students to fast whilst they are at home.
Speaking in an interview with Abena Pokuaa Ahwenee on Dadi FM, 101.1, he said that The National Peace Council (NPC) has assured Ghanaians, specifically, parents affected by the issue ongoing at Wesley Girls Senior High to remain calm.
He said that they are initiating an intervention plan that will solve the issue and ensure that peace is restored.
“Christians and Muslims have always lived peacefully by supporting and respecting each other’s religion despite the differences, we are looking at ways that we can intervene and ensure peace “, he said.
He indicated that these things happen once in a while so parents should keep their cool and allow matters to rest.
He encouraged both students and schools to respect each other’s religious differences and values.
