The Education Director for West Akyem Municipal of the Eastern Region, Mrs. Eunice Amfo Akunnor has called on Teachers to be Resilient in the face of challenges and leave up to expectations.
According to her, much is expected from Teachers, therefore, there is the need for modern-day Teachers to revisit and emulate the commitment and Discipline of yesterday’s Teachers and teach with passion.
Speaking at the sixth quadrennial and 53rd District Delegates Conference by the Ghana National Association Teachers in West Akyem, Mrs. Eunice Amfo Akunnor lauded people who have accepted to be Teachers and asked them to focus on their profession and explore gift from God and knowledge they acquired from school.
Recounting the achievements of the Ghana National Association Teachers in the Country, the Municipal Education Director said leaders have negotiated for increases in Teachers’ salaries and improved the condition of service.
She added the GNAT leaders have unionized over 75% of Teachers at the Pre -Tertiary level of Education and have been serving as the mouthpiece of Teachers.
Mrs. Eunice Amfo Akunnor acknowledged GNAT collaboration with Government to Institutionalize the Ghana Teachers Award, now best Teacher Price, and spearheading the implementation of study leave policy for Teachers and give soft loans with affordable interest.
