A building that collapsed at Kwabre East, Kasiem, in the Ashanti Region on Tuesday night June 1, 2021 has killed a 27-year-old mother, Maame Akua, and her 3-year-old daughter, Maame Ama.
According to reports, the building which was under renovation collapsed after following a heavy downpour.
Giving an account on Atinka TV’s morning show, Ghana Nie, an Eyewitness, Abass Maazu explained that after it rained for two hours, there was lightning and thunderstorm, after which the lights went off in the area.
He said the building which is a family house belongs to the Assembly man of the area.
“We heard people screaming for help, we all rushed there and when we got there, the building had collapsed on the woman and her daughter. They did not die at home, when the building collapsed, the Assemblyman called people to rescue them, but they died at the Zion Praise Hospital upon arrival,” he said.
The Eyewitness said when the Uncle of the woman saw the incident, he was shocked and collapsed immediately, but was sent to the hospital and is responding to treatment.
But the Mother of the deceased, who also collapsed through a shock is still in a coma and has not regained consciousness.
Abass Maazu said the Assembly man who is owner of the building has been summoned by the Chief of the area.
