The Technical University Teachers’ Association of Ghana (TUTAG) has declared an indefinite partial strike over unfavorable conditions of services from Monday, 14 June 2021.
“The decision to embark on the strike action is as a result of unfavorable conditions of services, research arrears, and non-payment of tier-two pensions for its members to retire,” TUTAG indicated in a statement.
The statement affirmed that the conditions of service for TUTAG members expired since 2006 adding that they have since been engaging the government to get us new conditions of service to no avail.
“Though the government has agreed in writing that we are to enjoy the same conditions of service comparable to the traditional universities that are yet to be implemented”, adding that: “2018/2019 research arrears due TUTAG members have since been pending”.
The statement continued that the Tier-Two pension payment for TUTAG members going on retirement has since not commenced despite repeated promises by the government.
TUTAG called its members not to engage in teaching, invigilation, supervision of students, marking of examination scripts and submission of results as well as attending meetings of the university.
The statement advised TUTAG members to continue to render community service in their capacities as lecturers.
