A parish priest of the Roman Catholic Church in Akyem Ntronang in Birim North District ,Rev. Father Ignatius James Yaw Amponsah, has called on the youth of Ghana to rise up against unprecedented corruption festering under Akufo Addo led government.
According to Rev. Father Ignatius James Yaw Amponsah, Ghana is heading to a terrible direction which will affect the future of this country the leaders are not checked.
He expressed his disappointment in President Akufo Addo stating that, he is running the country contrary to what he made Ghanaians believed he will do differently.
“Government Operatives threatening people who speak up why it should be so. Ghana is moving in a terrible direction. The President told us to be citizens not spectators but we can’t speak anymore, we can’t criticize. Even Journalists are being killed for fighting corruption. Ahmed Suale was killed. A whole MP sat on the TV and said if you meet him attacks him”.
“The youth must rise up, go on the street, and demonstrate against those who proffer democracy but don’t believe in it. Even in the election look at the people who were killed. Is this a democracy? Akufo-Addo came with a very good intention but it was deceptive. It saddens my heart”
He said “If the youth must rise. The fix the country campaign must be led by Mothers and fathers for the youth to follow sober secure their future but because of fear and politics were are quiet”.
Rev. Father Ignatius James Yaw Amponsah, a parish priest of the Roman Catholic Church, also CEO of Sanctuary of Mercy Rehabilitation Home, said the bad governance and economic hardships being experienced under Akufo Addo led government is a cause for the rise in many depression cases among Ghanaians.
