The head pastor of Musama Disco Christo Church (MDCC) Koforidua branch, Rev. Issac Abeiku Aggrey has tasked every parent, be it young or old to pay apt attention to their wards in order to ease them from adopting some behaviours not accepted in the Ghanaian society.
During a one-on-one interaction with Rev Aggrey, he attributed to lack of good parenting techniques such as negligence, maltreatment, and carelessness among others are the prime causes of children behaving unnecessarily like pickpocketing, excessive alcohol consumption, prostitution, disrespect and many more.
To him, some parents even encourage their kids to copy what others do such as how people dress, walk, talk, and many more, which he thinks is a bad training on the part of parents.
Rev. Aggrey asserted that Parents have every right to check, train and control their kid’s behaviour by citing Proverbs 22 vrs 6 “Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it”.
“There are always some things that parents need to be tightly watched around their kids but when they shield their child from every possible inconvenience, they would end up a child spoiled”, he revealed.
Parents should provide their wards all the necessary needs such as food, clothes, books and among others, so they may not be deceived by men.
Rev. Aggrey added that some parent’s attitudes towards their children could make them go wayward so parents should be mindful of how to talk to their kids and how to advised them to avoid them from having bad friends who will influence them.
