The Technical University Teachers Association of Ghana of Ghana (TUTAG), Koforidua Technical University Chapter has made a donation of Ghc 50,000 to Koforidua Technical University towards the construction of the university’s hospital.
Koforidua Technical University is building an ultramodern hospital to cater to the staff, students, and the community in which it is situated.
Presenting the cheque, the Chairman of the TUTAG KTU Chapter, Dr. Anthony Ayakwah said they realized that there was no hospital around the area to cater for emergencies so when the Vice-Chancellor (VC) brought the idea they saw the deep thoughts that had gone into it. He and his colleagues planned on contributing their widow’s mite to support the building of the KTU hospital before going out to solicit for support. He implored others to also come and support the building of the hospital.
Receiving the cheque, the V.C of KTU Professor David Kofi Essumang expressed his profound gratitude to the members of the TUTAG KTU Chapter for the gesture.
He said when he assumed office, he realized that the health post at the school was nothing to write home about and a university of its sort should have a befitting hospital to serve the university community.
He said the success of a man depends on his health and if there is any welfare, it is not money but how to get medical care in an environment of peace and belongingness.
He mooted the idea of building a hospital for the school and so far he has received support from different quarters.
He averred that the building was estimated at Ghc 2m but owing to the covid 19, the work is moving on at a snail pace.
Professor Essumang appealed to philanthropists, corporate bodies, religious bodies, NGOs, CSOs among others to emulate the TUTAG KTU Chapter.
Professor Essumang stated that his vision is to see the hospital develop to the level where it can support the establishment of a medical school in the Eastern Region.
He thanked his management team and the university community for their support so.
