The Medical Superintendent of Sefwi-Wiawso Government Hospital in the Western North regional capital, Dr. Jonathan Mensah, has said persons infected with Covid-19 might be far higher than the figures being provided by the Ghana Health Service.
He said the real figures reflecting the exact number of persons infected are not being captured because Ghana has stopped doing mass testing therefore many asymptomatic persons are roaming about in towns with the virus.
He said covid-19 cases are increasing in the Sefwi municipality and Ghana as a whole due to complacency and blatant disregard to the safety protocols.
He told Lord FM that, the blame should be shared equally on all Ghanaians and not be shifted only to leadership.
He decried that many Ghanaians still believe the virus does not exist.
Dr. Jonathan Mensah charged Ghanaians to change their attitude as well to observe all the Covid-19 protocols.
He reminded Ghanaians to adhere to the safety precautions such as regular hand washing and rubbing of alcohol hand sanitizer, observing social distancing, reporting suspected people with persistent coughing to hospital, and urged people’s being diagnosed with Diabetes, hypertension, and aged to desist from mass gatherings.
